Alabama Rivers Series

"The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.  And God said, 'Let the water teem with living creatures.'" Genesis, Chapter 1, Verses 2 & 20

Turkey Creek 1

Why do we care about clean water?  We care because water covers 70% of the planet's surface and makes up 70% of the human body.  We care because clean water means healthy and bountiful fish, and a day at the water with loved ones is a day well lived.  We care because we believe we are called to be good stewards of this earth.

FoodSource Lures are 100% real food and help fishermen catch fish.  FoodSource Lures are 100% biodegradable and help save fish. Now we want to do more.

In partnership with the Freshwater Land Trust, FoodSource has created the Alabama Rivers Series of fishing lures.  Relative to North America as a whole, our home state is a treasure of aquatic diversity.  Its waters support over a third of the freshwater fish species on the continent, at least 14 of which live only in Alabama and nowhere else in the world.

Many of these species are threatened or endangered.  For example, small Turkey Creek, just a short drive from our offices and manufacturing facility, is home to the Vermillion, Watercress and Rush darters.  Two are listed as endangered species by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and live only here.

The first lures in the Alabama River series are the 2" Turkey Creek Darter, the 3" Little Warrior, and the 4" Coosa Flick, all named for local rivers.  We donate to the Freshwater Land Trust a portion of our revenue from the sale of these lures.

The Freshwater Land Trust protects rivers and the life living therein.  That means they’ll be there for you and us, and our children and grandchildren, to fish in and enjoy for years to come.

NAME THAT LURE!  Do you have a favorite Alabama river or other body of water?  Want to see a fishing lure named after it?  If you suggest a name that we use for a new Alabama River Series lure, we'll send you a half-dozen bags of each style of lures in the Alabama River Series.  Click here to email your name suggestion.  Please be sure to tell us why you think a lure should be named after the water you suggest.
